Sweet Pea
This sweet old dog was rescued by CA Westie rescue in 1999 from an animal shelter where she was dumped off by a breeder because her breeding days were over.
Sweet Pea had mammary tumors and sever ear infections, she was thought to be deaf and blind and they didn't think she had much life left in her.
I heard about her and said I would take her and she could live out her days with me. She quickly learned to use the doggie dog and I changed her diet which cleared up her ears and once the inflammation went away in her ears she could hear just fine. She could also see all right, she just wasn't used to so much freedom and so she looked lost for some time but gradually got used to roaming the house and yard at will..
Sweet Pea was doggie sit by many of my friends and they were amazed at how good she was, she would just go into a crate and sleep most of the day, that was her favorite place to sleep and the door was never closed on her......she came and went as she pleased.
Sweet Pea lived another 4 years after I got her and crossed the bridge March 2003. My vet was always amazed at how well she got around with the way her poor old legs were so broken down from probably living on wire most of her life.
